Dude (2025) Plot Summary
It tells about Agan Chidambaram, a young man of uninhibited temperament and a tender heart and his cousin Kuralarasi (Kural). They operate an event-management business together named Surprise Dude, they deal with surprise proposals, weddings and partying. Their relationship is loving and romantic until Kural suddenly admits that she has romantic feelings to Agan.
Agan is disoriented and ill-equipped and refuses to accept her, saying he can only see her as family. Kural goes heartbroken and heads to Bangaloreto resume her studies in college. Agan transforms with time and distance and after surviving an accident, he realises that he really loves her. Willfully determined to wed Kural, he goes to her father Athiyamaan who is a mighty minister who surprisingly opts to agree to the union.
But Kural tells a shocking reality, she fell in love with a man of another caste, Paari, when she was in Bangalore. In spite of his heartbreak Agan decides to be compassionate rather than possessive and vows to take Kural back to Paari. Things become bleak as Athiyamaan furiously rejects the affair and confirms that he killed his own sister some years ago because of an inter-caste affair.
The plot becomes increasingly heightened by unsuccessful escape scenes, deceptive marriages, visa problems and ethical problems. Kural gets impregnated with the child of Paari and Agan has to pretend to be the father so as to save her and the baby. At the climax, justice is served when Athiyamaan makes a public confession of his crimes, and goes to jail. During the after-credits scene, Agan has found some joy at last when his fake relationship with Samyuktha is transformed into a real one and he is provided with some form of emotional relief.

Dude is the directorial first movie of Keeritswaran who was a previous assistant director of Sudha Kongara. Keeritswaran approached producers Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar of Mythri Movie Makers with the script at the beginning of 2024. The producers were impressed with the combination of romance and humour with the social commentary, which prompted them to support the project and it was the second Tamil film by Mythri.
Pradeep Ranganathan was offered the lead part, but he was at first reluctant because of the fear that the comic tone of the character would damage his screen image. He was contracted to the movie after more deliberations and script amendments.
